Im about to buy a dvd player from there for a trip because i heard you can return everything there but does it return in cash?

If you pay with cash, debit card or check, yes you will be refunded in cash. If by check, however, you may have to wait a few extra days to make sure the check has cleared the bank, then you would receive cash. If you purchase using a credit card, the refund amount would go back on your credit card.

My understanding is that they will accept any return for a similar or the same item - I don't know of anyone who has been paid out cash only in store credit when the item was not readily replaceable.

Abusing return policies is a good way to drive up prices for everyone.
