My thirteen-year-old sister just made a new group of Latino and Mexican friends who all like to call themselves 'gangstas'. My little sister then decided to change herself completely to become just like them! She now dresses, acts, talks and walks like a gangster and goes around in public calling herself one. She sees it as this completely harmless, fun thing! But she is really making a idiot out of herself (she is blond and fair-skinned). What can I do to convince her to become herself again? Or how can I convince her that she is making an idiot out of herself? And can someone explain to me what a 'gangsta' really is.

A gangster is someone in a gang and if your sister is in a gang then she really is an idiot. I'm thirteen and Latino and my Friends act like gangsters, (but they are not.) yet they are not idiots and act like your sister. Talk to her about keeping it down a notch. Dressing is OK, but the ATTITUDE is what counts. Make sure she doesn't go Koo-bananas because then she really will be a gangster and that is SO not good. Tell what will happen if she changes her ATTITUDE just to be like her Friends. They will probably go to jail.

Sit her down and first tell her, she's being stupid changing her life to be something like that. Then watch the movie Freedom Writers (I know this is weird but just listen). Freedom Writers is about a teacher making a difference in an area that's filled with gang violence. This movie will show your little sister, that not everyone sees being a "gangsta" as a such a cool, little fun thing to do. Point out all the good things about her before she became what she is now. Maybe one day show up at your house, in "gangsta" clothes, just like she, did but make it all played out, make it look really fake. Then when she looks at you like your crazy, tell her "Yea, that's what I thought and saw the first day you came in here looking like that." Then walk out and change. Come back all normal, and be like "I never liked thar style. These clothes are so much better and much more me." I hope I was of some help. Good Luck with your little sister. It's not funny to be a gangster. Your parents need to step in and set her straight. These are members of gangs. She can get killed playing this role, raped, sliced up, and land in jail.
Maybe she needs a big wake up call, by visiting juvie hall.
She will see how great it is to be locked up, with no privilages, in a jail, getting her butt kicked by real Latino gangsters.
Rent the movie, Blood in and blood out, Or American Me.
both are about guys who got in Mexican gangs. It's not the life, believe me.
You need to go on line, google the name gangsta, and find out for your self.
SHe is lucky to have a sister who loves her. Make sure your family is aware of this change, and have the school involved to work with you.

Watch some prison films with her. THAT is what being a gangsta is ultimately about. If she likes that, then all the power to her! But I have a feeling she really doesn't. She's just trying to be "cool."

gangsta can be harmless if you and your friends are joking or serious if you are part of a gang.. i would ask her if she really wants to portray herself like someone who sells drugs and lives on the streets or if they are just joking but if she is really acting like one it could be dangerous tell your parents

a gangsta is somethin white girls ain't. let ur sister act that way, she'll get tired of it sooner or later and if not that she'll end up gettin jump for reppin the wrong set. there really isn't anything you can do about it so just let her be.

tell her she can be down for her patnas but she don't have to be a gangsta, just be a rider for hers and she'll be straight, i use to bang until i found out i was baning bymyself, she'll grow out of it just make sure to keep and eye on her so she dosen't get too involved
