what is a reasonable amount of animals to have in a house?

because i have a friend and they had like twelve animals of all different kinds like ferrets dogs cats snakes lizards ect u get the point

I think it really depends on a lot of factors like:

Type of animals
Size of house
Finances of animal owners (can they afford to provide WELL for all that they have)
Time of animal owners (do they have enough time to devote to the physical care, nurturing and upkeep that all the animals require)

I have seen people with loads of animals of all kinds who are wonderful caregivers to their animals. I've also seen people with just one pet who do a terrible job - leave the animal too long, let it go potty in the house regularly, not provide it necessary preventative meds on a regular basis.

So, I think how reasonable it is depends on at least the things I mentioned above and probably one or two more.

It depends, if the animals are well cared for than as many as they see fit. I beleive that if a person is willing to pay the expenses(food, vet care, etc) and give the animals the time they need there there really is no cap on the amount.

I have 7 different types of animal living in my home, 19 total. I provide them with food, attention, and vet care(when needed). My time is becomming more limited, so I don't have nearly as many as I once did(once had 25 different animals.

It really comes down to the person, I sacrifice a lot of personal time to give what I have to my animals. I don't vacation, I work to support them, etc. I love having them so it is worth the time and effort for me, but other people that have this many pets may neglect them, or not provide the best care(settling for cheaper food, toys, etc). I have a friend that couldn't even deal with having one cat in the house(she got rid of it)

I have 2 cats and 2 dogs. I think this is the perfect amount for me, they aren't destroying the house and they each have a "playmate". Of course, it also depends on how big of a house you have. Twelve sounds like an awful lot though.....things might get a bit smelly at that point.

I think it's all personal preference. Right now I have two dogs and a cat but at one point I had my two dogs, two cats, a hampster, hermet crabs, and fish. I plan on getting my daughter a ferret next month for her birthday. I mean, as long as the house doesn't stink, I think a lot of animals is ok.

My wife and I have 9 dogs, 5 birds and a fish, all of them were either stray or unwanted animals. Most everyone here is right. Make sure you aren't violating any city ordinances, make sure you have the resources to care for them as far as vaccinations, food, medications, toys, cleaning, and just make sure you have enough love to go around! You'll get it back tenfold!

I personally only prefer a few animals. If I have a bird I would get 2, so they aren't so lonely. If I had a dog I would at least get a cat.

that's a loaded question - trying to use us to make your point?

anyway - here's my answer - it's however many animals that you can keep up with - how many you can take care of, CLEAN UP AFTER, and everything. If you are doing a great job keeping up with 55 animals then that is just fine. But if you have trouble taking care of 1 - then one is too many.

If they can keep up with the cleaning, bills and attention demands, then this is probably fine for them. Keep no more pets than you can give good quality care for. When it gets to be more than you can afford, clean up after or pay attention to, that's too many pets. For some, this is one pet. For others, a zoo is possible.

Well it's no big problem if you give all of them love food and care. but be sure to keep cats away from fish or mice.
