A Yahoo News story is reporting that U.S. AND Iraqi troops moved into the hotbed area of Baqouba . And guess what people(that includes you nay-sayers) , after Iraqi troops took over the streets. . . . They Were Greeted With Cheers From The People !!!
And hang-on to your anti-war britches for a sec and please finally realize that the masses there do support us and do want an end to the madness .
So let's be positive and let's be hopeful. . . . . but most importantly , let's put an end to the anti-war rhetoric for awhile and give these guys and gals a chance .
Hoo-Rahhhh
What do you think about the story ?

Devil's Advocate - First-off I trust no one who chooses to use the word " Devil" as part of their screen-name.. . whatever the reason . And I do know what your name means , but that doesn't change my mind a bit .
Secondly your negativity level has reached galactic proportions and I'm sure calling yourself Devil -Anything hasn't helped .
Thirdly , please ignore that thumbs-up that you have. . . . it was a mistake . I thought I was clicking on thumbs-down .
Good Day .

And btw , when debating with adults , don't try to sound like one if you're not . You came closer to spelling NATIVITY than you did to spelling NAIVETE' . LMAO . Thanks for the laugh buddy !!

It is uplifting to hear good news, after so long hearing the bad.
Our troops should take heart!
I hope people take your advice and shut their mouths. I know how heavy a burden these men feel when their nation questions the job they are doing. Even when it is cloaked in "war" debate, it still translates to them feeling like they aren't doing a good job.
I will continue to be hopeful, that our guys can overcome, and that the Iraqis will stand up and help shape their own country.

Brad V... Bush has basically been in Iraq for greater or less... oh... i don't know... 20 hrs or so. If the diplomats, secretaries, and congressmen have spent greater then 24 hours there then greater ability to them. as a strategies because of the fact the surge is worried, what does it count. If it wasn't working, and that i could desire to have self belief this is, i could be greater then somewhat worried related to the way forward for the rustic. although, the significant question is what happens whilst the troops could desire to be recalled. i'm hedging my guess that each physique hell will destroy out lower back. info needed i know. In New Jersey, quite a few years in the past, i've got self belief in 1993. Then Governor, Christie Todd Whitman, tried to stem the violence in Camden, united states of america's poorest city, and a great form of times its maximum threatening, by utilising putting forward martial regulation and bringing in an abundance of state squaddies into the city. for the time of that factor the homicide cost dropped, the crime cost dropped, and Camden grew to become right into a safer place to be. whilst the squaddies left, Camden grew to become into lower back to being the homicide capital of united states of america in 1994 and 1995. If an American city, this is nowhere close to as impovrished or chaotic because of the fact the cities in Iraq, is going magnificent lower back to sq. one whilst the reinforcements circulate away, what do think of is going to ensue whilst the greater troops circulate away Iraq. The surge and the attention surrounding it is not something greater then a political circulate exploited by utilising the media and misunderstood by utilising the universal public that may no longer fixing the foremost subject. fixing the mess we made in Iraq so as that we are able to circulate dwelling house. because of the fact as much as I hate the certainty that my former brothers in hands are there, united states of america can no longer cope with to pay for to circulate away. And it has no longer something to do with our own protection.

Its like in every conflict or war America has been involved in. Look all throughout history and war is a fickle thing. You have good days and bad days and something that works today, may not work tomorrow. We were looking good in Europe until the Battle of the Bulge when Hitler decided he was gonna try one more thing.
The Liberals would have been screaming to pull us out, that we were failing. In the start of WW2, during and right after D-day landings, 8,000 troops were being killed weekly, that would have caused today's lib's and anti war (military) weirdo's to really yell rape!!!!
I honestly think a group of people would like to see us lose this war, just like we did in Nam. I think they would also like to see us become socialistic and move away from all the freedoms we have.
Anyway, I am glad that finally, the media is reporting some of the successes. I always talk to the returning troops and more good is going on and more success is happening but never gets reported because it doesn't sell news.

Glad the story made it through the media !(.my guess is that the story slipped thru before it got shuffled to the trash can).
Many "good" stories occur every day and yes...the Iraqi's despite religious strife/differences, all simply want a "peaceful" life without fear that they / family will be blown apart just because someone wants to advance THEIR political /religious agenda.
..Most Iraqi's ALSO know that of all their choices, the US is the ONLY one that truly has No desire to usurp and or occupy THEIR country.
..Most Iraqi's have ALSO realized that the "existence" of their "country" is on the line...WE CAN hope, wait* and assist (A little prayer would hurt either)
The Iraqi people MUST decide to put aside their individual philosophical /religious differences and work TOGETHER to remove/eliminate anyone who seeks to impose THEIR personal or another countries "agenda"
.............or........... allow fear & in action to provide the means for "others" to usurp their country AND condemn themselves and their next generation to death by ethnic cleansing, religious warfare or other forms of torture or oppression.
...iN SHORT, The US has led the Iraqui's to water, the US won' "make" ANY horse 'drink' to insure its survival... with Iraq The US "interest" is to protect /preserve Iraq until Iraq can function and acquire the ability to protect itself
Iraqui's survival is in their hands. I sincerely hope the population of IRAQ CHOSES to keep their land/resources & form IRAQ into a country where without oppressive dictators, THEIR children will thrive and one day provide "the world" with the next great invention, medical cure...
Lets hope we all get to hear more good news stories...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
*waiting ...for a decision/action/solution/cure is always difficult...more so when lives are lost .yet what people forget is that death for a cause that preserves fellow humans is hard but far more nobel than failing to prevent unnecessary death.. for some'concerned' about the troops... the # of dead /injured troops is just too horrific....yet these same people never blink over the numbers of dead / injured in just ONE year resulting from auto/truck "accidents"-->upwards of 40,000 per yer...guess its not really about death eh?
I hope the "surge" is successful and not micromanaged by self serving politicians who view the "war" as a tool.

I asked a provocative question earlier and I got the response I expected. We both agree that a work in progress is just that unfinished. We are looking for a decision in SEPTEMBER and the Zipperheads judge the results in June. I am akin to Mosbys or Forrests Calvary neither unit surrendered to the Yankees they disbanded instead. I remember 4/30/75 like it was yesterday and my hate for the other side lives there. Liberals will never be forgiven for what they did to Cambodia in my book and Laos, and the Boat people.

I think the minute they institute the draft, as Schmorgen is clearly calling for, he should be the first to go serve, since he knows what is best for our country. Let him lead from the front says I.
It is sad that some people appear to root for tragedy over there because it let's them say, "TOLD YA SO, TOLD YA SO" like a 10 year old. Which is more important, being right all the time, or understanding that NO ONE is right ALL the time?
Support our troops, let them do their job!

You know that to the far left this will never be seen as good because it has been happening before in Iraq. Also the major media outlets will never report this. I know from friends that have been there they were cheered more than disrespected and they knew overall the people of Iraq want them there to complete the mission and also to help them build Iraq to the great country it can be that the Bath party did not allow it to be with all its corruption.

No one wants us to fail. We support our troops and our country, just not always our government. We all want something good to come out of this mess, especially our soldiers coming home safely. I don't know that it will ever be possible to stop the Iraqi people from fighting each other though.

It sounds from your account like they were cheering the fact that it was Iraqi rather than American troops who rolled into their town.
If it keeps on going that way, and the troops show that their allegiance is to their country rather than their militias, and that they aren't going to start fighting us after they've got rid of al-Qaeda, I'll agree that the madness may be coming to an end.
I'll agree to be hopeful if you'll agree not to praise the day before the twilight.....
