It's capital is Grozny and mostly muslim country with some pockets of Christians. It is one of the former satellite countries that broke off of the former Soviet Union. The Chechen guerrilla fighters are strong fighters and many times have defeated Russian soldiers.

What I really know unfortunately,is that Russia is not giving Chechnya its independence no matter what.

There is a horrible war for independence going on there, and terrorism seems to be failing to win the battle for the millionth time in a row.
