I am new to the Milwaukee area, and I was wondering which beach was the nicest place to take my family to?

Hi,

I live in Milwaukee and sorry to say:

Ewwww, none. Given the urban pollution and amount of raw sewage the city dumps into lake Michigan each time we have a lot of rain, I wouldn't take your family to a beach in Milwaukee.

Try white lake in Oconomowoc, the beach at Lannon or Pewaukee lake.

Or if you can....go to the Dells for the best and cleanest time :)

Milwaukee beaches are generally not the best. I'm still hesitant about taking my daughter their due to the sewage dumping that occured a few years back. Though Brafford Beach is the most popular and it is safe. Keep in mind that the water is ALWAYS very chilly, so it is best to go their on a hot day.

Yep, the swimming is not so good. The lakefront in general is nice if you're looking to do something non-swimming. This entire lakefront area is very open.

In Shorewood there's Atwater which I always thought was very pretty. Lots of steps going down to it but I think it gives a little more of an enclosed feeling.

Doctor's Park is I think in Whitefish Bay. Again not so much with the swimming but it's very pretty.

And Grant Park on the south side is also nice.

But for swimming you'll want to head west. There are just tons of lakes to choose from! You can pretty much head west on 94 and see lake after lake. One I've personally been to is Golden Lake which is in Waukesha County. It's more inland.
