That happened to me. I was close to 7 weeks (according to my last menstral period) and I had some spotting. We went to ER and the ultrasound showed a gestational sac measuring 5 weeks.

A couple of days later I went to my doctor and had another ultrasound and everything measured 5 weeks, 2days. I had a another done a week after that and I saw the heartbeat and the baby measured 6 weeks, 4 days.

I have PCOS so I probably ovulated at a different time. Try not to panic yet...after a few days, they should do another ultrasound to make sure things are progressing as they should...they should also be checking you HCG levels to make sure they are increasing.

Good luck and I hope everything is okay!

U/S that early can change. After about 8 weeks the u/s will be the the most accurate to determine your due date. Your period is only a reference point as you may have concieved soon after your last period or (as it sounds) very close to your missed period! Which in the latter would put you around the 6w mark. Next, make sure to hear a heartbeat, b/c (sadly) the baby may not have progressed beyond 5w (very common). After 6w you should be able to year a heartbeat, so wait a week or two and go back to the dr.

They say an early ultrasound (before 14 weeks) shouldn't be off no more than a week and a later pregnany scan shouldn't be off no more than 2 weeks.
You are awfully early and it should be pretty accurate, i would say you're around 5 weeks.
I had gotten my scan at 8 weeks (thinking i was like 12 or 13 weeks along) and he came 3 days before the due date they gave me.
Go back and calculate again, when was the first day of your last period.....when was the first day of the one before that (check how far apart your cycles are).....but i would say the ultrasound is correct.

U/S are usually pritty acurate when telling how far along you are or determining when you are due. They measure the size of the embry or fetus (what ever stage teh baby is at). Going by the first day of your last period is just a guess...you could have conceived at any time! So I would say you are 5 weeks and have nothing to worry about!!

Yes! I went in for my ultrasound thinking i was 10 weeks and some odd days, and at 10 weeks, you should be able to see a lil something at least, and there wasnt anything but a bean! I got real scared, and she measured my sac, and said that i was only 6 weeks 3 days. Bumed me out, but at least i know that my babys ok! So yes, actually i heard its kind of common, and since your u/s was so early, its probably very acurate. Congrats and best wishes!

I went int for my first u/s and I thought I was 8 weeks but according to the u/s I was 6 weeks, I was disappointed because I was so sick so they changed all my dates and according to the u/s...I am now 28 weeks and all my dates match up with the u/s still. I am sure you are fine. it just stinks to go back a couple weeks. I just ovulated later than I thought....good luck and congrats!!

Your due date & conception dates that your doctor gives you could be off. The u/s should be more accurate and they will move your due date accordingly it happens all the time.

That's a huge difference. Was there a hearbeat, did everything look okay? Either your dates were way off, or the embryo stopped growing 3 weeks ago.

i'd go by the U/S! It's more accurate because it goes by the size of your baby. You may have miscalculated your LMP.

ultrasounds that early are the most accurate, even if that's not what your period is telling you. I'd go with that for sure.
