parsimonious
Note: Gracious, just looked at the other answers! None of them are right, I can tell you that. Look up the definitions.
I am pretty sure I'm right, in fact, I'm certain, but I just don't want to check a dictionary. You can if you want, but I'm right.
Further note: Egads, scrupulous has nothing to do with money! It has to do with being overly conscientious! You folks better join me in the library!
And avarice is greed, and obliquely refers to saving, I suppose, but parsimony I'm sure has to do with saving. I guess I'll go look it up. I know I'm right, though.

A lot of people don't think the world will end in 2012, just you do. And if it ends on the 21st of "December, how could there be three days after the world is gone for Christmas shopping?

Yes, Helpful Hannah is correct, parsimonious it is. The word "parsimonious" means "careful with money or resources." It also means "penny-wise."
Since we're in the line of "penny-wise," here are my two contributions (both are compound words):
1.) cost-conscious
2.) money-conscious
Both compound words end in "us," and both are related to the word "frugal."
