The first International Cricket match was between USA and Canada played at St George's Cricket Club Ground, Manhattan, New York on 24th and 25th September 1844,
which Canada won by 23 runs.

However, the first test match in the history of cricket was played between Australia and England at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Australia from 15th to 19th March, 1877.

This is without looking it up anywhere - you could try a search engine - but my guess is that it was in Australia, 1877 or so. There was a Centenary Test match around 1977. My reason for saying that it was in Australia is that, if the game is invented in one country, the first international is likely to be in the next country that takes up the sport.

it was definately england, since thats where the game was invented
and probably against australia, because lots of prisoners from england were sent there, so they introduced the game there and it became pretty big
so yeah-first two cricketing nations head to head
