I am considering buying a computer which has a big mail-in rebate. But, I have never, in my life, actually gotten a rebate that I sent off for. What is your advice?

You need to make sure that you make copies of everything so if they fail to send you the rebate check your covered. I have had several rebates never show up , but after calling the company and resending the info it all turned out ok. Thats the second trick never give in , just keep pushing until they accept it. Some companies just have awful record keeping, and the ones that do know it.

Also make sure that you send it in as soon as you can, otherwise you may end up forgetting to send it.

nope i haven't just make sure to read the rebate and do exactly as it says and you'll be fine :) .. also send in the rebate as soon as you get the computer.. or else you'll forget. They are counting on that.

I have gotten every rebate I have ever applied for. The trick is to read the directions and follow them EXACTLY. If ANYTHING is wrong or missing, they will not honor it.
