I currently have a female doctor (and I am Canadian male) and I am wondering if I can go see another doctor for certain questions or symptoms. You see, my comfort level with respect to certain things is sensitive and I would feel much better seeing a male doctor, yet the female doc is really good for other stuff.

Here is my question: If I go see a second doctor and offer up my MSI # (which they certainly will need), will the other doctor find out or know that I went to see someone else?

Thanks,
J

So what if she does find out, she IS a professional, it will not matter to her one bit. You have the right to see anyone and to even get a second opinion if you disagree. Please go see the male doc if it makes you more comfortable.

I would not worry about your 1st Doctor finding out. If the topic does get raised simple explain as you did above that you are more comfortable talking to a male Doc about some issues. If you Female Doc cares about you, she will more then understand. You may want to go so far as to see a male doc in her same practice as your full medical records would be at that location. I have the opposite problem in the states.....finding a female doctor.

If the other doctor writes something down in the Clinical file, she can read it and know you went to see him only if she works in the same institution...but even if she gets to find out, she would not mind, or I would not.

Tell your doctor the truth, and and request them not to correspond with the first one. Otherqwise doctors usually send report rs to each other.

Every doctor tells, they talk, and compare. This is what we do, in order to diagnose each individual, and there situation that they are in. It's very important for us to give you our best opinion, We pay severely,in insurance, and in our reputation.

i don't know if she'll find out it but I guess she won't really care.Furthermore, she should understand it since you mentioned it's because you feel more confident with a male doctor.

No, they shouldn't. Even if she was to find out, you could just say you wanted a 2nd opinion.
