Yes they are. It's projected release date is Dec. 31, 2008 and it's supposed to be a comedic but haunted take on the original. So far only Bart Johnson (Coach Jack Bolton), Alyson Reed (Ms. Darbus) and Leslie Wing (Mrs. Bolton) will reprise their roles for this film. The main cast are still in talks.

Yesh they are. It's to realese in the end of 2008 They had an interview with Oren Aviv, president of production for Walt Disney Motion Pictures Groupand he sed that this movie may [[most likely]] debut in movie theaters.
Lucas Grabeel was interviewed as saying the plot will be about the junior prom however he also said that "not a word of the script has been put down, we're not even attached to it. it's just a possibility..."

i heard that as well, but first to come is the High School Musical 2. it wil be on disney channel somwhere around august 12. I LOVE HSM!!

I hope to all that is holy they don't. One version of High School Musical is enough for me, thank you. It was bad enough they had to make it into a stage production which I was forced to sit through multiple times at my high school.....
