I just started taking my bbt in the mornings (beginning the 1st day of my period). I'm confused because my temps are very different. For example my first was 97.42 the next 97.82 and the next was 98.34. How in the world do I detect a spike when they are all so different? I usually put the thermometer in my mouth as I walk to the bathroom in the morning. Is it best to stay in bed until you get the reading? Thanks for your help!

you shouldn't be doing any activity when taking ur temp. You should take your temp 1st thing in the morning before you get out of bed.

You just started taking your temperature so give it some time before you understand your charts.

When I started charting ..it was about a week before my period, so that was 1/3 of a chart, and it didn't make any sense to me at all... Then I started charting around the same time every morning without missing a day, and at the end of that whole month's chart was I able to make sense of my chart.
Try looking at other charts online to see how they may look like. Remember though that yours may look a lot different. That's because charts aren't suppose to look the same but they're suppose to show the same key points, i.e. temp rise, the shift in temperatures, etc.
G'Luck.

Im doing the same thing. I don't trust those BBT because Ive been doing it and when I was ovulation my BBTsaid my temp was lower than the other days and I knew I was ovulation because I test with ovulation test. Everyday my temp was either low or high with out being close to ovulation. I was testing in bed at same time every month. So Im not using it anymore. I suggest using ovulation kit or checking your cervical mousous for clear streachy discharge that's what im doing right now. It worked when i got preggo with my first born Good luck

I took my BBT each morning - the key's to take it formerly you get off the mattress. I in simple terms wrote the temp on in simple terms a sprint paper. I stored track of it for 2 months and used ovulation kits interior the night as nicely. After 2 months, I had a sensible trend of my cycle and it grew to become into greater straightforward to narrow my ovulation window. you quite do no longer want any fancy. you will see whilst once you temp spikes! stable success TTC Daisy

yes, they should vary but you should take it at the same time every morning and take it BEFORE getting out of bed, talking, peeing etc. that is very important to have it constant each day, so that when it does dip or spike you will be able to notice it. It works if you follow the simple rules.

It's best to do right when you wake up while you are still in bed. Then write down your temp and record it in a chart such as one that you can use for free on:

It will help you see your spike. Some fluctuations are normal.

your supposed to stay in bed and try to keep the variables the same (put the thermometer in the same place in your mouth, keep the home temps the same)

It is normal for them to seem all over. When you chart them you will see a pattern. It's only the beginning, give it time and you will figure it out. Fertilityfriend.com will help guide you.
