Not sure, but in his last pro at bat, in 1974 Howard was playing in Japan's Pacific League for the Taiheiyo Lions. In his first time at bat for his new team, he swung mightily and struck out, hurting his back; he never played again.

Frank Howard debuted on September 10, 1958 vs. the Phillies, batting in the sixth spot in the lineup. In his first at bat, in the second inning, Howard, batting against Robin Roberts, flew out to CF (Richie Ashburn). In his second at bat (4th inning), still hitting against Roberts, he hit a two-run home run over the LF fence. In his remaining plate appearances, Howard walked, hit a short fly out to SS, and singled.

Howard flied out to center against Robin Roberts in the top of the second.

Later, he homered in the fourth, walked in the sixth (scored), made an infield out in the seventh, and singled in the ninth.
