Too many people come here to beat up on Liberals. Do they know what a Liberal is?

I think they've overdosed on Rush Limbaugh.

They have a totally inaccurate, strawman notion of Liberals that they proceed to knock over. Since it's not connected to reality, they end up accomplishing nothing.

To them, a Liberal is someone:

-- Who hates America and wants to destroy it.
-- Who identifies with Islamic radicals and wants to surrender to them.
-- Who is lazy and doesn't want to work-- just collect highly-lucrative welfare.
-- Who is "dirty"-- there's a Kindergarten insult!
-- Who is a secret Commie.
-- Who takes a lot of illegal drugs (Like Rush Limbaugh?)

Liberals-- does the preceding describe you or anyone you know? Of course not.

It's sad that some people have chosen not to deal with reality, but instead create a fantasy that makes them upset. I think they're only happy when they're miserable.

Well, right-wing crybabies, I won't make it easy for you. I'm not who you think I am. But I do oppose all of your twisted notions.

Well you just spewed out the same kind of rhetoric that you are complaining about.People like their soap boxes to poke other peoples ideologies in the eye.Generalizations are a political ploy for Conservatives and liberals a like.Rock throwers and knuckle draggers are we all in that sense.This is the very heart of why the American congress can't even tie its own shoe laces. And as for to many I guess it depends on what side of the fence your on, some one from the Conservative base could say the same thing about liberals, not that it would make it true by endlessly repeating it. But I suspect that you can never convince the decided.....so...by the way I am a Conservative and replied to your question with out slinging names...ya see not every one can be categorized and neatly labeled.

Actually, I know exactly what a liberal is. I was raised by a very loving and intelligent liberal mother and a very loving and intelligent conservative father. The conservative views make more sense to me, while the liberal views make more sense to my sister (we are both in our 30's now!).

My parents have completely opposite views of politics. However, they have been happily married for almost 40 years. They cultivate an environment of mutual respect that makes political discussions lively and fun. It is the RESPECT factor that is missing from many people's posts here.

I don't expect or want everyone to agree with me. I don't agree with everyone else. I am not out to convince people who don't want to be convinced. It's just fun to hear what other people think.

And, I AM fit to be an American, thank you very much. My entire family is politically active (although not for the same candidates!), we write to our elected officials, research the issues, make our own decisions and ALWAYS vote. We have respect for our elected officials, even the ones we didn't vote for, and we have respect for people whose opinions differ from our own.

You don't have to agree with me, but treat me with respect, and I will do the same for you.

I am a conservative and I sometimes listen to Rush but I do not think liberals hate America, want to surrender to Islamists, do not want to work, are communist, 'dirty' or take illegal drugs. Personally I find it offensive that you think all conservatives are stupid because a few made some ridiculous comments. I could make an equal list of things conservatives have been called. You simply have to ignore it.

Yeah I know what a Liberal is... Liberal is the lowest form of scum on the planet. They are "Supposed to be" Humanitarians, peace makers and lovers of all... But that is a joke. Peace making lovers don't through stuff at someone who's expressing their opinion. Humanitarians aren't over excited to kill babies and soldiers. Liberals are nothing more than a bunch of ill informed emotion driven idiots.

i agree with you. it used to bother me but now i just overlook it. it goes both ways. people use labels like liberal and conservative so loosely it has almost no meaning. i see it as a way to broadly generalize and sterotype anyone who doesn't lock step in with one's own position. the worst is trying to compare Democrats to Communists. anyone who does this has no idea what Communism is. and then comparing Democrats to Nazis. the Nazis and the Commies were enemies, but I digress. Anyway I'm sure it will continue. I'm beginning to ignore it and any questions about Iraq. Those of us against war have been yelling until we were blue in the face since before the invasion, to no ends.

They have absolutely no clue what a liberal really is. The right wing has turned it into a 'dirty' word. I do not agree with the right on many issues but, aside from the elected officials, I try to refrain from inflammatory comments about the right.
