Rectification. The wall wart contains whatever transformer is needed to convert the mains AC voltage to an AC voltage that will result in the desired DC voltage. One or more diodes are used to convert the AC to DC. This process is called rectification and a diode can also be referred to as a rectifier. One diode wil provide "half-wave" rectification, that is, it conducts current for one polarity of the AC wave and blocks current flow in the opposite direction. Two diodes and a center-tapped transformer, or four diodes connected as a "bridge", can provide "full-wave" rectification. See the ref. for a fuller explanation.

Use AC Adopters. DC appliances come with diffrent DC voltage ratings so be cautious in using the correct ratings. Else get an AC Adopter which gives the option of different voltage rating operated by a switch.
You can also get an AC Adopter made by any electronic engineer or technician which may workout cheaper.

You use the little wall wart transformer things to convert the AC to DC. AC power transmission is cheaper and more efficient, but most electronics run on DC, so the converters are the best answer.

Put simply, Rectifiers, they chop off the negative part of the AC sine wave, the results are pulsed DC current, by passing that current through filters it become as close to pure DC as possible. Pure DC is from stowage batteries

There are voltage rectifiers in these DC-only devices that convert pure (alternative polarity) AC to single polarity AC, which is then converted into DC by the use of smoothing/filter capacitors.
