A friend of mine is receiving child support from her EX. His payments would be cut in half if she tells him about the big raise she got. Should she tell him?

YES!!!

He is good enough to actually pay his fair share. She should appreciate it and give him a break.

Do you know how many guys go out of their way to avoid paying their child support. She shouldn't punish him for doing what is fair.

Now she should do what is right. And if she refuses, you should tell him.

His support payments would not change. The only thing that her raise might effect is her spousal support payments, or alimony. Alimony is meant as a means to allow the wife back onto her feet until she can earn a living on her own. To hide it would not only be dishonest, but unfair to her ex. Especially if he has made all of his payments on time as per the agreement. Why should he be the only one who the rules pertain too? It goes both ways.

No - legally the agreement can only be changed when they go back to court with new paystubs and whatever and the court modifies the amount. Until then, mums the word.

Yes abosolutely. If her husband finds out she is keeping this information from him it could give him grounds to sue for custody of the child.

no she is not legally required to tell him. She can get into no trouble for not telling him. Child custody reviews are usually conducted every three years, it will come out then.

Yes she could because if he takes her back to court and they order her to surrender her financials, it will come out into the open and chances are the courts will back that up, which means she may end up paying him!!!

Yes because if she doesn't she will ending up having to pay back what she got that she wasn't entitled to.It will only hurt her in the end.

yes, cause I guarantee if he got a raise she'd have his a$$ back in court looking for her cut.

She will pay even more if he finds out on his own and goes to court.
