Took them with me on vacation and we couldn't do ANYTHING until they both "went". (Something to look forward to.)

This is really funny. My sister and I have made a pact with each other that when we grow old we will NEVER discuss our bowel movements with each other. When we were growing up my grand mom used to call all her brothers and sisters and they would call talk about how they poop, when was the last time they pooped, good tips on how to poop more often, etc. No poop talking for me when I'm old!

Well I've worked with A LOT of elderly, so I know what you're talking about.
You have to remember that they don't have too much going on in their lives right now.
No longer working, kids are all grown up,most of them can't get around too good, so they're not very active.
So really, all that's left for them to worry about are their aches, pains, medications, & unfortunately, bodily functions.
It can be a bit annoying to constantly hear about, but hey, at least their still able to complain about their ailments.

An absolute truth. I take care of a lot of old folks whom I love dearly, but they have bowel crises in the middle of the night! I think they don't sleep,so they have that to dwell on! Warm prune juice with milk of magnesia works wonders!

No it's the same for all of them
I'm a Registered Nurse and I get into conversations DAILY about bowel movements.
I guess that's all they have to look forward to in their day

I quite enjoy my morning constitutional as well. Maybe your parents are planning ahead too. Maybe They don't want to get stuck in a line and have to pay the doodie merchant. Maybe they don't want to inconvenience anyone else because they have to drop the kids off at the pool. Give them some credit.

Generally people over 50 have a higher chance of getting colon cancer. I think that's probably why its important to old people that they can go regularly. If they are unable to, the colon forms polyps which can get cancerous. Besides, they wiped your poop off for years, I think the least you can do is wait till they go :)

That goes for children too. Parents are so concerned about their daily bowel habits.

It is a universal thing with older folk. Kinda Freudian and regressing to the anal stage of development.

lol. My mom was like that too. She always brought her umm, "hot water bottle" - you know the one with the long tube attached to it - with us on vacation. She hung it right up on the bathroom door too. She despised Bert. Good times on vacation with us.
