Hey there, I'm going to be moving from Austin Texas to Seattle Washington here... whenever I can.

I would like some advice from people who have done this, or know how to do it, on the best way to... take care of everything I need to do to move. What steps did you take?

I need to first find a job, I work at a bank here so I'll be working at a bank there, and then finding an apartment to live in.

I've been to Seattle once when I was little so I don't know the location very well.

Thanks for the help!

If I were you, I would go visit first that way you can scope out the city. You need to find a place to live before you move, you can only do that in Seattle. The city of Seattle has changed much over the last 10 years. It's a very expensive place to live, make sure you have a job lined up first.

Well I'm in the process of moving cross country from Boston to Seattle myself. I agree with the previous poster, make it a point to visit the city before you just up and move there. You should secure a job before you head out there. My relocation is being completely managed by my new employer, so the steps they have taken are, securing a moving company for my things, and my car. Also coordinating temporary housing. I already set up a local bank account (thank god for Bank of America which is located in Boston and Seattle), I would also check out the state website they usually have steps new residents should take when they move to a new state.

Make sure that you have a job lined up. The Seattle Times is the paper for that area so you can check the classifieds in that for work, and places to live. Good luck!!
