The top rail is metal and I need to take it off for painting and rust repair. Dont want it to fall apart and flood my yard.. Please help!!

I thinking of doing 1 rail at a time and not taking all the rail off at the same time...

Yes, it the wall liner will come apart.

Drain half the water and do one at a time. Leave a foot of water in the bottom if you take them all off. The sun will cook the liner and make it brittle if you drain all the water and take a day or two to do the repair and allow the paint to dry. You might want to consider new top rail if available.

Do not do it. The rail holds the liner in place and also holds the walls in place. As soon as you remove even one section, the walls will have undue pressure put on them. Further ahead to do repairs with everything in place.

Drain the pool first, or you will have a mess.

YES, that is what is holding the liner in place.
