Bad news: A Dutch think tank says that, due to a flurry of construction of coal-fired power plants, China has passed the US by and is now the world's #1 polluter.

We can't take this lying down, Patriotic Americans! What can WE do to increase the amount we pollute?

Off the top of my head, I'd say we could subsidize the Oil Industry. Oops! Already do that! Or maybe we could give tax breaks to purchasers of big gas-guzzling SUV's. Oops! Already do that. Oh well, excuse me while I go burn plastic in my backyard burn barrel...

I 'll join you in doing my part to make America number one again . We are #1 in drug addiction #1 in alcohol addiction #1 auto theft #1 in bank robberies #1 home invasions just behind Israel .
#1 in incarceration of its people #1 in consumption of useless disposable goods making us #1 in the world for dumps . Yes we have mountains of trash that during the time before 1980 we simply dumped in the ocean . This made us #1 in solid pollutants dumped into the environment a distinction we hold the record in to this day . 4 trillion tons of trash dumped in the oceans . Mercury just happens to magically appear in fish naturally .

America is number one in everything except what counts . Being good neighbors and stewards of the land .

I'm living in Germany now (studying abroad) and I marvel how the whole country recycles. It's second nature to them.

America? No comment.
Have fun burning your plastic. I'm sure that you inspired many Americans to do the same.

May I assume in advance that you use no petroleum-based or other products that "ruin" the environment? Just trying to get a read on the hypocrisy meter.
