Our military is understaffed and their tours of duty are getting longer. The President and the GOP presidential candidates support a troop surge. Clearly, the US military needs more soldiers on the ground. Those who don't want to join the infantry can serve as mechanics, medical staff, cooks, truck drivers, etc.

If the Iraq war supporters are so passionate about it, why don't they go down to their local recruiting office and enlist to serve their country?

Because they do NOT support the war, only the administration.

There is an old expression that "Old Men make war and Young men fight it"

That is the case for many here, they are way too old to join the military and they are now supporting others going, more then they even support the cause they fight for. Many older folks are still fighting the wars of our past and our reacting out of knee jerk feelings for times long past.

As to "True Patriot" and others why are you talking about the draft and volunteer army that is not what the Questions ask. It asks why those of you who support the war do not enlist. So if you are too cowardly to answer the question then just past it by and let it go, rather then trying to make it into something it is not

Personally I think the army should draft old men like me (44) (or in my case have us re-enlist) and let us do some of the jobs that we are still capable of leave young men and women to live their lives.

I have served in the middle east but my question is how have you supported this country. BTW if asked I would go back for my country. My health and age prevent me from joining back up with the military but as I said if asked I would go. I would not like it but it is my duty as an American.

I am going to try to be objectional with my response.
They can support the war and not enlist just like I can support pro-choice but have never had an abortion.

I really am tired of the hate and intolerance.

They dont refuse, and hopefully at the age of 46 I am going back in November and off for a tour of Afghanistan in January. Most war supporters do enlist, have already enlisted or served and are now out. Suggest you do some research before coming with liberal lies.

Demographics. Look at the demographics for O'Reilly, Fox news, Bush supporters, War supporters - the majority are post middle aged and therefore unable to go . . .

Because that actually involves them maybe actually dying themselves.

Better to just talk about how noble it is and then berate others.
