A lot of fire ants are coming into the house from open spaces in the windows. I sprayed some Ortho and they die around the window, but does that mean I could have termites in the house?

Insects will enter the home through any means accessable to them, especially ants. They are looking for a food source. This does not mean that you have termites. It is possible you have them but nothing to do with the ants.

The two things are totally unrelated. Ants could enter through holes created by termites, but they can find lots of other ways in too.

I don't believe that is necessarily the case. But instead of buying expensive ortho, a quick and 100% effective way of killing the fire ants is the dump a pot of boiling water over their mound and down the hole. It will kill any grass right there, but that will grow back and I think it's worth it!
