From the ages of 13-19, nothing that I categorize as tragic. Mistakes I made plenty. Did lots of things I shouldn't have done. Got my feelings hurt and might have hurt a few myself.

But truly tragic, absolutely nothing.

My grandfather came to live with us during his last year of life dealing with cancer. He died on Christmas day in our house and it really shook my mother up and changed the whole atmosphere of Christmas for a few years afterward as well. This was the first person close to our family that had ever died.

When I became a teenager, my Father set me down and told me my past and future. He said son, you were born into this world for only two things.
1. To pay taxes.
2. To die broke.
So far, my Dad has been 100% correct.

When my best childhood friend died suddenly at the age of 19 from a large brain tumor. We were best friends from the age of six. She only had brothers and I had one brother, so we were like sisters. She came down with flu like symptoms and went to emerg. They found her dehydrated and then sent her home after hydrating her. Her Mom was an R.N. They didn't know about the tumor until after she died.

When I was 15, I was severely depressed. Kids in school were constantly making fun of me to the point where I would skip school so I didnt have to deal with it. I can remember the teacher hearing everything and totally ignoring it.This was in the 80s.. My parents were always fighting and my dad was always putting me down. One day I took 10 pills thinking if I die, I die, if I dont, I dont. After I took them I called my friend who told her mom who called my parents. They made me throw up and then my dad said If I wanted to kill myself I should have done it right with his gun.
Fortunatly after a few years I got over the depression and am now very successful. But my relationship with my dad is over.

Nothing very tragic. Both of my grandfathers have passed away, but I didn't know either of them very well. One died before I was born, and one lived in Africa:(
