Even at this late stage, who thinks a General Election should be called to determine the next PM?

General elections are called to determine what party rules the country, the party then elects it's own leader, always has been this way

There should be an election to see if Gordon (PFI accounting fiddle) Brown should lead the country but there won't be as Labour do not have the money for a protracted campaign. The Ealing by-election should give a good indicator of the public mood though.

No. The rules are that an election should be held every 5 years. It's not 5 years yet so no, 1 shouldn't be called.
