How do you get a job providing the voice of a cartoon character? Do i write to production companies? Are there agencies to sign up to? What do ido?

Well first you need an agent.
Then try having an audition in a TV program.
But sometimes dubbers aren't hired just by auditioning they are usually discovered by producers by means of how they talk, I suggest you take good care of your voice and you know how to change your voice tone.

Agencys but they use familiar voices mostly to draw in people...but I'm sure you can get a back-up character voice roll?Start with the LA directory

I'd imagine you'd need a talent agent, to help represent you and get you gigs.
Or, if you have any skill with Macromedia Flash, you might try creating some simply cartoons of your own and doing the voice work yourself (or re-dubbing existing cartoons) -- just so you have samples of your "talent" to show to prospective employers.

talent agencies no half assed ones either get a good manager not a sleasy one and make sure you read the contract completely be for signing and dont agree to any thing you dont want to do
