I’ve currently got a tropical 60-litre bi-orb and I’m wondering about how many fish I can comfortably accommodate. Over the last months I’ve added 9 neon tetras, 2 red swordtails, 6 guppies and 2 dalmation mollies (and 3 plants which are growing nicely). No problems thus far except for a minor snail invasion I’ve managed to suppress. Is that as much as I should add? I was also thinking of adding a couple of triops in a month or so once I’ve grown them a bit in a separate tank.

Keep in mind that this tank also can't be judged like a normal tank - the design, while pretty, is also not very practical - you have less bottom and surface area to work with and the shape is more constricting then a long, rectangular type tank of the same volume. You are best off keeping it with what you have, and if you have the urge to keep expanding, get yourself a real tank - the bigger the better.

For the nonmetric users, your tank is a little more than 15 gallons. I wouldn't try adding more fish - you're about at the limit of what yours can hold.

If you add triops, the mollies (maybe the swords too) may decide they're a snack. Triops don't have a very long lifespan either - only 1-2 months. If you keep them in the bio orb, it will be harder to collect the eggs and dry them so you can hatch a new generation (they won't hatch if kept constantly wet): http://filebox.vt.edu/c/channum/triops_care.htm

i HAD A 60LITRE BIORB AND I HAD A FIRE EEL, 2 PLECOS, 1 BETTA, 3MOLLIES, 3 GLASS CATFISH, 2 SAILFISH AND A GOURAMI. I HAVE NOW MOVED THEM INTO A 150L. I THINK YOU HAVE ENOUGH IN YOUR TANK AT THE MINUTE, THE FISH THAT YOU'VE GOT AT THE MINUTE ARE RELATIVELY SMALL FISH, AND WONT GROW HUGE. IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO HAVE LARGER FISH YOU NEED A BIGGER TANK WITH MORE FLOOR SPACE!
