As an American participant on Yahoo Answers, I am constantly amazed at the small number of Brits who participate in this Politics group, ask question after question about really stupid things, and then get their account deleted.

Do Brits know how to use the internet?

Most Brits are rather well versed.

Your alter ego has a difficulty with maintaining sufficient points to keep up a personna. He's back within a few days, though, only to dwindle to zero points and account deletion within 2 to 3 weeks.

Brits invented the internet - or rather a Brit (Tim Berners-Lee) invented the World Wide Web! Ok, not actually a one-to-one correlation (internet <> WWW), but a serious answer to a facetious question...

Zack the Brit

My best friend is a Brit. From what I understand from him, is that most Brits are as confused as Liberals are, about the way the world runs. A lot of them are against the war in Iraq, but don't appear to have a good reason for their thinking. Some of their stupidity, may have to do with jealousy of America, since they rely on USA for so much guidance. This is my best guess, based on what I am told by my English Mate.
However, if you notice, all children, from all countries appear to be getting dumber, if you will. Even in America. It seems to me, people are losing their values. There are Americans who think Iran, Korea, China, and Mexico are good right people!!!! No wonder our children are comitting crimes, becoming gang-members, stealing, and hating at such a young age!
The English apparently, seem to be following the path of their own distruction, by not listening, by not understanding, by continuing in the path of their un-workable health-care, and NOT complaining about it!
Recently an older man was told by English doctors he had cancer, and had a few months to live. He spent his life-savings on what he thought would be his last holiday, thinking he was dying, and it turned out that the man never had cancer at all. He was perfectly HEALTHY! Now he is dead broke. Not a dime to his name, to live out the rest of his life, as should have been.
I guess I'm ranting now, so what I didn't want to agree with, your question, I agree with now. I guess I had to go through this rant to see that you're correct.
English folks are acting stupid, for the most part, it seems.

I really don't think it matters where one comes from.

It's obvious from this question that some pretty ridiculous comments come from every corner of the globe!

My own opinion is it's sad how people seem to lack social skills, tact, and diplomacy.

I've visited the UK and find them to be extremely good people. They were certainly smarter than us in the beginning of WWII as we refused to listen to their wealth of experience and training.

'Nuff said!
