Glycerin and Phenoxyethanol are not known carcinogens. Glycerin is used hand creams and is in many biological molecules, like fatty acids. Phenoxyethanol is used in in hand creams also, and is also used in perfumes, insect repellents, and used as a bacteriacide. Triethanolamine itself is not carcinogenic, but it can break down into nitrosamines, which have been known to cause cancer.

There are plenty of studies available on the web, and the consensus is cola might cause cancer, but not because of the acidic nature of the cola. The F.D.A. claimed that a person would have to drink 1000 cans of soda a day to reach the risk level of the animals in the test. I can not drink that many, so I am not worried. One doctor state that the biggest risk was obesity, which could lead to diabetes.
