Myanmar is currently suffering financially. While it's neighbors enjoy a boom of tourism, this majestic, beautiful, historic country sees less than 750,000 tourists annually.

It has hurt the finances of the country.

However, since there are many human rights abuses happening in Myanmar and because of the nature of the govenment, perhaps it has helped their case by keeping less people visiting.
