This morning I caught one of the supporting actors speaking on the BBC about his role in the new Die Hard film. He said his role was fine, but he wished he could have used a gun and been "cool", he said that with total honesty and enthusiasm, and it really struck me how he and seemingly most young people have such a deep conviction that guns are "cool" and to use/hold a gun is "cool".

We all know that guns kill and are filthy things of death, sorrow, and pain, so WHY is it that young people are still so convinced that guns are "cool", when many of them have seen the consequences of using them with their own eyes, so they know that in reality guns are horrific and the total opposite of "cool"?

Plus - don't you think one of the two presenters sitting with the actor should have at least said something about his comment, because I think it was totally out of order in today's gun culture for a Hollywood actor to say that on national BBC TV??

because they keep us free.
they help keep us safe from those who would harm us or our family.

guns do not kill people ... i say ahhh duhhh to you.
if you can blame guns for killing people i can blame my keyboard for mispellings<~~~like that one right there

no i do not think it was out of line what he said .
take some of the US states that support guns have lower crime rates..... polls support this look it up

if you disagree with guns change the constitution but at the same time say good bye to all other freedoms

Amendment II

A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

start taking this away and you will not have a USA

perhaps i should point out to others that dislike freedoms maybe they should try another country? there are a lot of them out there...

also i would suggest to you learn actual facts
people who are registered to a gun are NOT going to use it as a crime weapon lol

p.s if you don't like his comments don't watch the film ever rather it is in the theaters ,Tv, dvd or on the web

ugh! liberal minded folks like Bob there is a real world out here .........

Firearms are, in my opinion Cool.

The main problem with guns is that the wrong people inevitably get hold of them (the gun toting reprobate who thinks CRIME is fun)

Weapons are glamorised in the movies, however, if you look at the big picture; the people who have the guns only use them as "tools" for their "trade", their trade usually being: theft and drugs.

Lets face it, anyone who deals in drugs has very little respect for other peoples lives, and could potentially kill more people in a third party capacity through overdoses and drug related illnesses.

Legalising Drugs would be the best way of combating drug crime, however, it would reduce the need for large police forces, and all but bankrupt the whole legal system.

guns arent cool, the people that use them are just stupid. i totally agree with you, with all the problems that gun crime and the gun culture is causing in our society i feel celebrities and people in power should ensure the right messages are sent out to young people. i hate the idea that you can be a totally innocent person and yet walking down the street you can suddenly become a victim. young people should be taught that nothing good will come out of owning a weapon and the laws should be a lot tighter.

They are not cool at all, bloody dangerous. Live by the gun and die by the gun, that seems to be a motto for most rappers and the like, so they know how dangerous they are and still use them! CRAP CRAP CRAP!! I remember reading an interview with Kerry Katona (yes, sad I know, but I was SOOO bored!!) and she had said to Brian (when they wre still madly in love) "would you take a bullet for me" and he had said "yes"! What a pathetically, mind numbingly boring question in the first place and what a prick for answering at all!!! This just shows what a gun-fuelled environment we live in.

Guns are only how people use them. A ninety year old women shot an intruder in her bedroom who was about to stab her. Used wisely, in the right hands they are protection.

Its obviously a nervous reaction to the on-going use of fire-arms to try and tame troubled places like Iraq.
