I am a black man and I wonder why we love our women(black and white) with extra padding. For me, I love women that dont look like stick figures and got meat on their bones. White men on the other hand think its repulsive to see big butts and thighs. Why are we so different in the embrace of women. They call the women fat and unattractive when they are slightly larger, most black men call that sexy. Why the big difference? I dont get it. I love my big sisters and wouldnt have it any other way black or white women alike.....

I appreciate very much that someone appreciates us BBW's!!! I understand what you mean about Black women perhaps being more appreciative of Bigger women, however i feel that perhaps this is just because they havent succumbed like others to this whole stupid media idea that skinny is beautiful! It had mostly been the case in history, that bigger women were seen as healthier, most likely to bear children etc, and were therefore appreciated more. However, unfortunately, society no longer appreciates fuller figured women, mostly because of the medias huge portreal that skinny women are more beautiful. Also stick thin celebrities that constantly adorn the newspapers/mags/tv and films only add to our interpretations that being fat is ugly and not desired.
There are many men, not just black who adore bigger women, or sites like BBW dating and glamour sites portraying Bigger women wouldnt be so popular! I think that alot of these men however don't admit to liking bigger women due to constant ideas that skinny women are prettier.

There is no controversy-- Vogue magazine and the Associated Press went out to stir up a controversy and it still hasn't happened! Why would there be controversy when Black men and white women (and visa versa) have been with each other for years? I guess when you put a photo on a magazine for white teen girls, they are supposed to be so impressionable that they start running after Black men? I will say that it would have been nice to see the first Black man on the cover of Vogue in a suit, with or without the white female.

I guess you just haven't met my husband or the thousands of other white men that adore us big girls.
My husband is repulsed by skinny women, he finds them sickly in appearance. He loves a big behind and thick thighs etc. According to him and a lot of other white men, the bigger the better.
I think what you are running into is that it is less acceptable among white men therefore they tend to not be as open about their attraction to BBW's. My husband was teased as a teen for dating bbw's because he was very attractive, athletic, and popular and his friends didn't understand why he was into the girls that society says are unattractive. He even tried dating thin girls just to fit in, but those girls did nothing for him. He found out that you are attracted to what you are attracted to and you can't change it nor should you try.
As an adult he openly informs people that he loves plus sized women and that he can't understand why anyone would find anything else attractive.

It wasn't always so. If you'd recall, the statues and paintings of renaissance times were of plump figured ladies. As to why there's a difference now might have to do with the stereotypes helped built by various media.

I do not think that there is a difference that cuts along ethnic lines. It may seem that way to you from personal experience, but the majority of men prefer slender women. A smaller percentage actualy focus on a womans mind (I am one of these). I think the smallest percentage prefer large women.
Edit:
My wife is a large woman, and I am a large man. Her size was not a factor in our getting together. Initialy it was her smile. We are trying to loose weight, but for health reasons, not because we care what people think.
