I'm sure that some of you have heard about the Manhunt 2 game being banned. But how come it's not o.k to have violent video games that are properly certified and regulated, but it's o.k for kids to watch trash like Big Brother and see slags like Paris Hilton and Christina Agulera (Spelling?) flashing their bits all over daytime t.v?

Hi Pirate Princess, I do see your point, but the game is adult rated and by law it is illegal to supply it to or buy it on the behalf of anyone who is under 18. Whereas, popstars are flashing their bits on t.v at 4 o'clock in the afternoon whilst six year old girls are watching.

If there was an avid gamer, it would be me. The thing is that people don't understand that it's the idiots who think it's real who should never have touched a game system. The smart gamers know that video games are a game and have social life too. After playing a bloody game, I don't go out on the street with weapons killing people because I play violent games.

Plus I think people should be worried about the increasing sexual content in the media nowadays. You turn on the tv and most likely you'll see some skinny half naked lady trying to sell you a product. WHat's worse is mtv. I used to love it but now that they promote sex and telling young girls that it's okay to dress up like prostitutes, this is something I am worried about. I don't like full dictator control but please... they have to be responsible for their actions and not $$$ alone.

Atleast with video games, you can go into the computer technological field in the future and help benefit people with awesome walk throughs of buildings for education purposes. Doctors who used to play games have better hand control over delicate operating machines because they had years exp of playing games. Half life2 is used in architectural applications in ways no one can imagine. What good comes from if you promote size 0 as healthy?

People don't turn on a video game and decide to be violent. They're either raised in an unhealthy environment to begin with or are genetically wired to be violent. 99.9% of the population is able to distinguish between fantasy and reality. Those who can't would likely get in trouble if left to their own devices anyway. How about recognizing violent games can be a healthy outlet for the frustrated and potentially violent amongst us anyway? After all the game developer is probably some harmless nerd who hides in the corner with a vivid imagination. Don't stop producing something just because a very small minority doesn't have the mental faculties to deal with it.

I agree with you, and what people dont comprehend is that allowing slags and people who are promiscuous on tv at times when children watch is making these people into role models for kids, who are getting pregnant and because they are too young (cant cope) their kids are getting mistreated. So although peole are not getting maimed etc.. it does have a profound effect. And for the record I play computer games and have never been tempted to jump and hit bricks with my head hoping coins will come out of them.

flashing your bits and killing/maiming people are two entirely different things

I'll take your word for that as I don't watch tv at that time!! Within the past eyar there has been one teenager killed by his friend after getting so worked up playing a game like this. some parents need supervising themselves as they do give 18 rated games/DVDs to kids!

How bad must it be to be banned? The ones already licensed are pretty gorey/saddistic etc

I think it's ridiculous banning any games! If people are gonna go out and murder someone its got nothing to do with games, its what is already in their minds!!
As for the slags on the telly I totally agree, they should be banned from TV permanently!

Yes I think banning the game is a good thing, some young guy killed his best friend by watching a video game. He didn't mean to but was influenced under the game.
I'm afraid things like Big brother, jodie marsh etc are far from being banned.

I've read in Wikipedia that Manhunt 2 will be released for PlayStation 2, PSP, and Nintendo Wii on July 10,2007. UK and Ireland are preventing it to be sold in their countries. If you really want it, maybe you can buy it online from amazon,ebay... after it being released.
