there was a change from the slower music of the Big Bands such as Glenn Miller who had a sweet sound to a louder more enthusiastic youthful sound called " Swing " whose sound was prompted by bands such as Benny Goodman. these were before the Rock and Roll era.

After the WW2 many new artists and genre's came. Jazz, British Rock, rock and roll. Artists like Elvis and the Beatles.
