Tomorrow, with a single stroke of his cruel veto pen, President Bush will dash the hopes of millions of Americans seeking cures through the miracle of stem cell research.

By vetoing a bill that expands stem cell research, the President will say "No" to the more than 70 percent of Americans who support it, "No" to our Democratic Congress' fight for progress, and "No" to saving lives and to potential cures for diseases such as diabetes and Parkinson's. He will say "No" to hope.

Unfortunately, this is an all-too-familiar pattern in Washington these days. Once again, Democrats are offering the American people hope and progress, while a stubborn President responds with roadblocks.

Once again I find myself shaking my head at our president, and the path that he has taken us down these last 6 1/2 years. I have MS. I'm 26 years old, served my country, and the second I get out to live my life as a civilian, I get struck down with this sh**. My doctors tell me I should be in a wheelchair, but I've been unable to swallow my pride and give in to that, so I stumble and fall a couple times a week. I'd give anything to walk normal again and live my life like everyone else (Sheila E). I could benefit from this research, as well as millions of others who suffer from MS, Parkinson's, and other nervous system related diseases. Instead, Bush would rather be a horse's *SS and stick to his ridiculous point of view. I hope this veto is worth it to him when he is burning in hell for causing pain and suffering to millions of people. Chalk another one up for our dumb *SS president! By the way Sheila E....have a heart!! How much do you think this ridiculous war has cost us in taxpayers money and human lives? And are we any safer than we were 6 years ago? NO. Grow up, and start supporting the things in this country that can actually mean something to Americans.

And I'm pretty sure the president isn't going to veto the bill for you and your tight pockets. He is going to veto it because of his own beliefs. In my opinion, a President should be in office to fullfill the interests of his countrymen. And as it has been pointed out, more than 70% of Americans support the bill.

No one gets to pick and choose where their tax dollars go, there best chance is to elect politicians they agree with.

As far as stem cells go, there is no evidence that embryonic stem cells can be used to cure any disease. All progress that has been made with stem cell research is with adult stem cells. Bush has done nothing to restrict use of adult stem cells. All private funding is going into adult stem cell research. The medical field knows the most promising area of research is adult stem cells not embryonic.

I think the giving sick and disabled people false hope that embryonic stem cells will magically be able to cure them, is much more despicable.

Pay for the research yourself if you are so worried about it. I don't want my tax dollars paying for something I don't agree with.
