We purchased our house a couple months ago, the appliances came w/the house. The previous owners that a rottweiler, but there wasn’t a “dog odor” that we could smell. Recently I’ve noticed a smell around the area of our side-by-side refrigerator. I slid the refrigerator out & cleaned a bunch of dog hair, etc. from under it. I then vacuumed a bunch hair, etc. from the back. I removed the kick plate & vacuumed the condenser coils & any areas the vac would reach. I’m going to buy a condenser coil cleaning brush so I can clean further into the unit. My question is, after I do all of the brushing & vacuuming, what else can I do to eliminate the dog odor? I have a feeling that the previous owners never cleaned these areas, therefore the “dog odor” might be set in, & when the fan kicks on the odor is going to be blown out the back as it is today. Can I remove the condenser coils, get in there, & clean? Remove/replace the drain pan if there is one under the whole unit? Thanks!

My best friend had a similar problem when she bought her first house from a dog owner.

Try this spray called Approach. It's water-based and natural so you can spray it anywhere in the kitchen, inside the fridge, under the fridge, on the coils etc. Should get into every nook and cranny and eliminate any residual odors.

Give it a shot it's a miracle worker!

Good luck!

Clean the area with vinegar and water. The vinegar is great at absorbing odors.

Also, don't forget to clean the drip pan under the frig. It should slide out from the front.

Yes, remove and soapy wash the drain pan - odors can remain on it.
Also, there are various commercial pet odor removers you might try.
DON'T use ammonia -based cleaners - dog urine decomposes INTO ammonia.
Best of luck and grrrrrrrrowf !

If you can get it away from the wall then litely spray the area with water and vinegar.Let dry and spray again, wiping with vinegar does the trick well.Once it dries the odors will be gone.Just put a fan on it to fry well.it works.

Two things I would try. Look for products designed to remove pet orders or use bleach and water. You could even spray Frabreeze after wards.
