Well, I am 37 weeks, 4 days pregnant with my first child. The baby has dropped, but I have had no dialation. My doctor says that he will induce my labor on July 3rd, which will make me 39 weeks along. He says that my cervix is tilted and may never dialate on its own. He also says though that I could be in labor for a couple of days, then they may end up having to do a c-section. I was just wanting some advice from anyone who has had this problem before. And please don't say, 'the baby will come when she is ready'...I hate that!

Daughter went through the "labor for a couple of days" and the tension was horrible. We did not like the ob doc to the point that he asked me if I wanted to deliver the baby! Do not go through induction knowing about the cervix not dilating. She had several rounds of induction only to be at two centimeters after 24 hours. OK...schedule the c-section. It will be easier on you and the baby if you cant deliver on your own. Be thankful that a c section can be done...
Oh, daughter ended up collapsing and got an emergency c section...
Labor on its own is a workable situation without the long hours/days involved for most women. Every pregnancy is uniquely different.

That's b.s. about the tilted cervix. I have one, dilated every time and gave birth to three children naturally. He wants your $$$$. He makes double if he c-sections you.

NO woman should be induced before 40 weeks unless there is a complication. It's bad for the woman AND the baby -- nothing like a whole bunch of drugs pumping through your system.

Here's what they do -- they put you on a pitocin drip before you are ready, and then 24 hours later, they tell you you aren't dilating (of course not -- you weren't ready for labor) and c-section you. It ought to be illegal but so many women are completely gullible and/or impatient to see the baby and not be pregnant any more, they just fall for it.

Protect yourself AND your baby by standing firm and refusing ANY induction unless there is a legitimate complication that requires one. Same with a c-section -- unless there is a hard-core reason for one, it shouldn't be done. The recovery is 2x as long and there can be lots of complications and endanger future pregnancies.

My cervix is tilted also and I was induced at 37 weeks. I was in labor at the hospital for 22 hours but I gave birth to a healthy 5'3 lb little girl. No need for C section.

Your body may suprize you. You may not have an issue at all, but its good to have a plan in case things change. I think your Dr. is on target with telling you that you may have to have a C-Sec, at least you can prepare mentally for that. I don't think he means the screaming in pain, sweaty, labor either. You could have back pain for all that. Relax, let you body do it if it can, and if not, you have the help you need.

As for the due date, you so have have the FINAL countdown going!! My daughter came ON my due date, and she came fast. the nurse told me to go walk around the MALL, because I was only at a 1. I left, went home, took a hot bath, shaved what parts of my legs I could reach, went back to the hospital and had her 22 min. later. I know it sucks, but she really will get here when she's ready :)

The ideal is after 39 weeks 1 day if there are no other complications. For this reason they will normally look carefully at your due dates to schedule it at the best time. I'm assuming your doctor has done this. Why don't you just give him a call and discuss your concerns?
