Being open-minded means being able to listen to other people's opinions (even if you personally disagree!). An open-minded person will not feel threatened by an argument that goes against their own opinion; they will consider it, take the good and leave the bad. Furthermore, to be open-minded demands that even if you hold different views from someone else, you can accept that you don't understand their perspective in life. Therefore you can be tolerant of their opinion, and respect their right to disagree with you.

Open minded is allowing oneself the option to examine all possibilities and also not accepting the final solution as an absolute. In science, if a newer conclusion is proven to be better, it will replace an existing one.
