I am due to start my period the day before my wedding, and also have my honeymoon straight after, i went to the doctors yesterday who gave me pills to delay my period for one week, then start on 'the pill' straight after when i have started my period. I wanted to know, if I could stop my period for a day or so, then go straight on the pill. I have never had the pill before. Would this still protect me?

Talk to your Doctor again. I recently went on the pill and was told I could do it one of two ways. I could start the first day of my period or I could start taking them now but I would be unprotected and to used other methods of contraception for the first 7 days. I think it depends on the pill he has chosen for you. I hope this is of some help.

If you are going to go on the pill anyway then you may aswell go on it now, then all you do is skip your break. for example, u take ur pill for 3 weeks then stop for one week to have a period, if you just carry on with the secnd packet and skip the weeks break you have no period and no lasting effects and you are still covered!! sorted!
p.s. combined pill

- You Must start the pill on the first day of your period.
- You will not be 'protected for the first seven days
It wont matter if you delay your period for one day or seven days as long as you take your first contraceptive pill on the first day of your period.

PS. You will probably not be protected while you are 'delaying' your period either.
