i am 36+2 today i have a embarrassing problem. on the outside of my vagina i have some lumps, i am not in pain or in any discomfort i feel normal, and i have no discharge or smell and the lumps are quite soft. (sorry to give so much details) they appeared about two week ago. my next appointment is tomorrow with the midwife i will be asking the midwife about this. I am just curious to know what this is. I had a cheek up for STD earile in my pregnancy as i was due one, the results were fine i know it is not a STD as i am a married woman. a close friend of mine said it is normal to get it todwards the end of your pregnancy she has 3 children. this is my second baby and i did not get this with my first. Does any one have any advice or experienced on this.
thanks

This could be varicose veins, believe it or not. Pregnant women don't just get them in their legs, but sometimes on the buttucks, vulva and groin. They feel like soft raised areas in the skin, and may or may not be painful.
Weird, but then my midwife told me these are more common with SECOND and subsequent pregnancies. The varicose veins will in no way hamper labor and she told me most of the women who had them saw close to 100% improvement right after delivery.
She recommended Vitamin E as a supplement to help improve vein strength. It helped me, as did just getting off my feet if the veins were throbbing or achey.
Mine went away a month or two after having the baby. The other possibility could be skin tags, which some women develop in pregnancy.
Either way, I would not worry.

you may find it is the strain of the baby giving you lumps. It sounds silly but i had a similar thing. It is like the effect of piles (kind of but not exactly!) but the weight of the baby putting pressure on your lower half can strain the muscles and they can look like they bulge out. I doubt you have any sort of STD and doubt it is anything to worry about. I know it is embarrasing but pregnancy does funny things, it is not the most dignified time of life!! Check with your midwife but i am sure it is nothing to worry yourself about x

They are probably varicose veins. If you could see them they would have a blue tint to them and then you could be sure that is what they are. Toward the end of your pregnancy with all of that additional pressure they tend to appear in some women and they go away after delivery. I freaked out in my third pregnancy when I noticed them too.

You are quite advanced into the pregnancy. The baby's weight is putting pressure on your body, so it's probably veins.
I'm sure you're fine, but go and ask your midwife for piece of mind.

it could be piles, I'm not sure if you can get them around your vagina, i know thees are quite common in pregnancy. i wouldn't worry to much, it's could just be because of the extra fluid that you body is retaining, the body does strange things in pregnancy.

it is very common to have blocked glands, or inflamed glands. Your doctor will be able to tell you better.
