Ok, I'm not being racist, just curious. From an evolution point of view, what is the reason for the different facial appearance of Chinese?

In particular the flater eyes, as southern asians do not share this trait as much.

Asia had at least 3 migrations out of Africa in pre history & some of their populations came from Eastern & Central Europe. What caucasians see as "slanted eyes" is an adaptation to cold weather that is not shared by all asians. DNA is a wonderful tool to trace the migration of our species out of Africa & around the World. We don't "know it all" yet but have some wonderful evidence as to how this happened & why it happened. I have included a link where you can get some ideas as to how these mutations happened.
You are of course right, the Asians are far more diverse than the common westerner realizes.

I really don't know the answer. But it is an interesting question. The eyes are the most distinctive but the whole facial structure is unique. The other interesting thing about Chinese faces is that they are difficult to read or "inscrutable" as some would say. They can look directly at you and you cannot tell what they are thinking at all. Like a good poker face.

It would be very interesting to find out why they developed this way. China was a closed society for thousands of years so there was little outside influence. The other fascinating thing is, as you stated, the appearance is somewhat different depending on the region of China they are from.

more than half the world population is Asian, and more than half of these Asians are Chinese, Japanese, etc.
So from a evolution point of view the "Chinese" appearance is the most successful variation of the human species.
think about it.
