Stuart is right, it's an L98 Tuned Port engine. The iron head version was rated at 230 hp, the aluminum head version was rated at 235 hp.

The LT1 engine wasn't introduced until later.
The 1986 engine is called an L98.

no its definatly not an lt1. LT1's started in 93'. the 86 i belive is the TPi. It might be the crossfire but im pretty sure its the tpi. hp is right around 300hp.

LT1 came out again in 1991. you have a tuned port injected 350
hp for your vette is 285 in a 86

i'm pretty sure it is LT1.
