I am a big fan of the show but have not seen it return for the next series. Was it cancelled in the US or what.

No, it wasn't canceled. I watch the show regularly. The season has ended, watch for previews of the next season. They probably won't start for a little while though, seeing as the season just ended a couple weeks ago. There is another station that shows reruns, but I don't remember which one. There also might be something about it on-line, try to look it up if you can.
