You are supposed to fast the morning of the test (or at least that's how mine was). I know it's hard! I felt very ill by the time they were done. I brought snacks in my purse that I scarfed as soon as the test was over.

call your doctor,( he should have an answering service) if you are about to pass out, and I know the feeling eat and reschedule the appointment for a day when they open around 8 am! I told my doctor that i would not do the test If I had to fast from midnight until whenever they could squeeze me in, I had to be the first appointment. The test doesn't have to be to the day either, so don't worry if they can't fit you in for a couple of weeks yet, unless you are having problems.

Usually though there is a time frame of how many hours I had to fast before the test. One doctor told me I could eat, for an afternoon, test but to eat higher protein and avoid things that turn into sugars, like bread and other carbohydrates.

Just reschedule for a time when you can handle being hungry for a little while longer than usual.

Good Luck!!,

When I had my test I was told that I could eat 2 hours something 2 hours before, then fast (only have sips of water) and then do the test. I ate some bland oatmeal and a couple strawberries. My test came back negative. They say to stay away from carbs and sugars, so no pasta or sugary cereal. Good luck to you.

I just did my one hour test on Monday and they told me for the 1 hr test, it was fine to eat. The night before I had a baked potatoe at dinner and at breakfast I had waffles and grape juice...my results were fine.

I think IF you have to go back for the 3 hour test, you are supposed to come fasting. I would eat a light breakfast and let them know that at the test. Or at least take something w/you and be prepared either way.

you aren't any more meant to devour in any respect interior the morning till now the attempt (ingesting water is okay). for this reason they regularly have you ever are available first element. it is somewhat difficult no longer having some thing interior the morning so i'd propose she brings a snack and a drink to have good after. I felt fairly nauseous after ingesting the glucose drink and at the same time as i became executed I had some juice and an apple on the way residing house (the position I had a large breakfast!) which fairly helped.

your not supposed to eat or drink anything at all before the test, and only drink a little water if you absolutely have to.but that said i am not sure what test you are going for if its the glucose tolerance test then i know your meant to fast! i would type in the name of the test your having into a search engine and see what comes up. that should clue you up... good luck

That's really up to you if you decided to eat or fast...however..I would recommend eating a light breakfast without a whole lot of sugar...the drink is full of sugar and as I'm sure you know..having too much sugar can make you nauseous...

It's a fasting test.

I don't know who scheduled you for a fasting test at noon...that's just mean.

You can drink water, or anything with no sugar in it (coffee, tea, etc). Caffeine makes me hungry, so I'd be careful with that.

I go for my sugar test at my next appointment and my OB's office told me that it is okay to eat and drink beforehand you just want to avoid things that would be high in sugar, like pancakes dripping in syrup. Have something simple like a bagel or toast...

When I was to go for my 1 hour glucose test, my doctor told me not to eat or drink anything. I could drink water, of course, but nothing else.
