It's hard not to. Peoples' music preferences say alot about them. It tells you how much in common you may have with them, so it's a very good indicator of how well you will see eye-to-eye with them (or not).

No, because I don't usually know their musical preferences. Although I must admit, if someone was passionate about music I hate (rap, for example), I would probably take that as an indication that we don't have much in common, and therefore can't be very close as friends. Is that the same as "judging"?

I think everyone does, people just don't want to own up to it. We tend to judge people on all of their tastes music the same as how they wear their clothes or hair.

When I pull up at the stop light next to someone who has their stereo blasting with low level rap music so loud that their whole car is shaking and I cant hear my own radio I do roll up my windows and make a few assumptions. I admit it.

no i don't but there are a lot of people that do, for example i love my heavy metal music but we have friends that believe that i am evil because of my music its not fair as i am a loving wife and mother, so what is i have a difrent taste in music, i am not allowing my children to listen to it, if they are grown up i won' critisize their music even if its defrent from my taste, and my hubby listens to club music nothing wrong with that

I happen to feel closer to ppl who feel my flow but one of my close friends loves gloomy rock (sth like Funeral For a Friend kinda groups) and i do not mind it !
