I have recently met the love of my life. He is always there for me when I need him, and we have alot of fun. I want this man to bbe my husband. I hope to one day adopt children with him.
My parents are very religious rural people- conservative, Christians. yet, if this man is to be my life partner they should know about it. I want to share my truth with them. I wish I had come out years before. But didn't. I don't want to break their hearts. Is my sharing with them selfish? Should I think about them?

Vsrom has a good point. But keep in mind, a lot of gays, particularly men, tend to focus on "coming out" because it is a life altering experience THE MINUTE you do so. Remember, it's tougher for a man to be gay-society is FAR less tolerant of gays than of lesbians.
After coming out, from then on, you refer to your life as "before" or "after I came out." And, as it that's not enough, once "out" there's no real going back "in"-everybody knows now!
So, as a result, gays tend to attach a lot of gravity to this landmark in their lives and tell it like a war story, the way straight dudes might describe a wild night in a Mexican brothel, or something like that.

I don't get the coming out thing at all. I don't go around announcing I am going to sleep with a man in 10 minutes. Who cares who or what you sleep with? Just live your life and don't sweat the rest. My oppinion this coming out crap is for attention pure and simple. Just live your life and keep your sex life to yourself as the rest of us do.I get so tired of hearing all the coming out stories. Maybe I need to tell my sex stories when I hear one of those just to teach them we really don't need the details of who is in your bed.
