Ok

Have a 16v 1.8 vectra, the idle control assembly can suffer from a build up of carbon etc, which causes the EGR valvue to stick or operate erratically.

Does the car rev smoothly ?
Does it run worst when you are starting from warm but OK when cold ?

If this sounds familiar have a look at this,

I would not suggest doing it yourself but you could easily get a couple of estimates.
I think to replace the assembly costs around £150.

If you search the web for Vauxhall idle control stall etc you will see this is a common fault with this series of engines.

You are not alone....

Good luck !

I had this problem and it was the Crankshaft sensor in my case. When that failed it apparently runs on a backup one on the camshaft and that gave similar conditions to what you described till the failed unit was replaced

I think your idle valve needs cleaning or replacement. the car doesn't cut out when ur actually accelerating does it. If no then it is your idle valve.

Sounds like it need a tune up, and soon.

Sounds a little like dirty injectors, but don't quote me on that.

Don't leave it too long, get it seen to.
