...a reason for someone to call it quits with you, when you are the one 'accused' of being a man who tries to take each day as it comes, and not plan too much in advance (when you are never sure what the future holds)?

Dr. Kale, that's exactly the point... how good enough is your 'best' for a 'better' tomorrow or a 'good' today?

Oh Contraversy... you are like a mirror... you've said exactly what the heart has been wanting to bury as wicked wretched notion all this while. But thanks for the candidness... one does need reality checks :-)

And Contraversy, for me, it has not been the cake and having to eat it too, just that somebody told me that I am not good enough for him because I don't plan for a future (financial), I care too much creative freedom in my profession :-|.

Some people are planners and savers. Some people are impulsive and spenders.

Sometimes they are too far away from each other on the scale, or cannot hold to a compromise in order to stay together.

There's nothing good or bad about it. It just is.

As far as I am aware we only have this day. The past is gone and the future we are never sure of, grab the moment and enjoy it regardless. You know what they say about the plans of mice and men. It's nice to plan, but don't hold your hopes out that it will ever come to fruition. I'm constantly living the moment because the moment is all I have whatever good comes has got to be a bonus. I always had a great sense of adventure never being sure what was around the next corner, but I faced it with all the bravado I could muster and handled it as best I could and as much as possible taking care not to hurt or offend the feelings of others and being aware I'm not alone on this planet. I clean up my own rubbish and don't leave it for someone else to clean up for me. It truly is a beautiful life. And even in the darkest moments I look for a ray of sunshine, then I know there is hope for me and perhaps for the future.

he had a good point, present is very important. with present u can decide ur future.

but, u at least hv to live ur present to have the future.

so which 1 u thing is more important?

eg:
nowadays str8 couple always said they need to stable their carrier b4 marriage to secure their future, but when they have their carrier develop, it might be too late(old) for them to give born to their baby...
the couple hv their future secure, but hv to take risk to give born to a baby.

i think ur case is reflect in the above eg...
but u can have both,

eg:
weighting all the aspect, the couple decide married and make baby earlier. and they both put 2x effort in working and family.

TRANSLATION of "living for the present" -- "I don't want to miss the opportunity of having my cake and eating it, too, so I'm gonna dump you for something that's more exciting than the stability and comfort of a long-term relationship".

***Your (ex)boyfriend is more comfortable to have a financially-viable sell-out as a life partner than a boyfriend of artistic integrity.
