we have been tryiny to buy a house from some builders and they have verbally given us ten completion dates and never honoured them. What do we do? Our mortgage has changed to higher terms after changing twice. presently they are not telling us anything concrete. We negotiated on this house because other houses were already built on the site with people living in them.We were given March 2006 as the completion date.We are frustrated and desperate because they changed the builders.We.need a solution

depends how bad you need to move in.
th builders will probably be happy for you to pull out as they would be able to sell it for more.
you should have had a penalty clause built into you contract where the builder has to pay you for each month they are over due

Interesting as yes you may be able to cancel and get money back, but how much has the overall value gone up over the period. That I would consider as contract frustration and may be compensationable. Most solicitors give a free visit. Why not check first.

What does your contract say? At 15 months past the completion date you'd probably be well within your rights to cancel and get any money back that you've paid in.

take them to court for breach of contract and for the cost of mortgage changes this should light a fire under them, when a building contractor fails to meet a contractual deadline they can be persuded for all costs that you incurred due to their negligence to hit the deadline.
speak to a property solicitor and they will know the correct avenue to persue, good luck

I'd understand a month or two due to suppliers letting them down, etc but after so long I'd be pulling the plug and asking for my money back
