First of all Bloomberg has been a Democrat, Republican, and now and Independent.

He would never get enough votes to be President, or even have a Ross Perot effect.

The Democratic Party has too many straight ticket voters for an Independent to win nationally. They could run a random name from the phone book and get about 40% of the vote.
An independent would need to capture almost all of the independent vote (pretty hard - Independents are independent) and most of the Republican vote.
A candidate that is strong enough to get that kind of vote would be an easy winner by running with a party --- why then run as an Independent and probably lose?
I believe this is about Rudy and Hillary. Bloomberg can be a kingmaker but not a king.

Any independent candidate will just be the spoiler, jut like Ross Perot. Most voters want there vote to count for a possible winner, The only ones that will vote for an independent are those who want to make a statement that they are dissatisfied with the current system.

Thanks to GWB the American people have begun to wake up. People are tired of the lies and candidates saying whatever they have to to get elected. They are tired of being ignored. There is a good chance an independent could win in 2008. But remember that's a long way away and it would take the right person.

No. Mr. Bloomberg has no chance. He was a liberal posing as a Republican to get elected mayor, in the first place. His record will work against him.

no, too many people are sucked in by liberal concepts and dont understand an age old axiom...theres no such thing as a free lunch. on the flip side...the WORKING conservatives understand it and are working on dealing with realism...you have the two extremes and the electorate seems willing to deal with that. Usually a third party candidate is cast in the role of a spoiler.

Not unless he starts to build a party around him. He can effect the election. Clinton won twice with Perot running.

Yes, with what we have running on both sides and the stalemate of power, I think the people need to stir things up, and if it would ever happen it would bi in 2008.

No me importa quien gane, pero lo único que espero es que el que lo haga, no perjudique a los países pobres con su política económica subvencionista.

I don't think so, because people assume, from the beginning, that one of the two main candidates must win.
